Basics of Spiritual Care
This is a study of the loving power of Christ and the Holy Spirit influencing and freeing His people. The life of a Christian should be a life of freedom and joy. Most of us carry the pain and baggage of the past, and even though we try to ignore the pain or say it is not important, we only experience a limited amount of freedom. This course helps us find the freedom and release in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit We will learn to recognize the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives and also study His gifts.
This course needs a 6–8 hours seminar or small group study. Very interactive.
Materials needed: Bible, Workbook by Sharon and Roland Pierrot.
The person who truly knows his Savior and finds his identity in Him, should not suffer under the weight of his memories of events that happened to him in the past in this fallen world and yet very few Christians reflect Christ’s freedom and joy. The primary source of the need for spiritual care arises out of a feeling of devaluation. A person who feels that they have no value in their society, or less value than others will suffer emotional and spiritual pain. The Christian knows that he can find freedom and release in Jesus Christ, but most of us never experience Christ’s freedom to the fullest. We need to be brought to a greater understanding of who Jesus is and what He can and will do.
The different cultures of the world express value and acceptance in different ways. Some express it though different rituals or different forms of physical contact, or shun physical contact for other means of valuation. It is important that we express value in a language that the person understands. While there are differences in cultural expressions of value, the teaching of Christ and the influence of the Holy Spirit transcend culture. These teachings will apply to every human being. The Holy Spirit will help everyone who receives Christ in their lives. God values each one of us individually, that is why He provided the sacrifice of His Son. It is our belief that God wants his church to become involved in spiritual healing. His followers need to become equipped to help each other discover how to trust Jesus to deal with the pain and allow the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome the destructive effects of the memories of these past events. We need to recognize how to submit to the Holy Spirit and walk to freedom. With the help of the Holy Spirit, it isn’t hard or a long procedure.
This course helps us trust and recognize the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives and also study His gifts. We will learn to give him more control in our lives and allow the Holy Spirit to have a stronger part in our lives.
